Julia pardoe'nin 1838 tarihinde basılan Beauties Of Bosphorus kitabında sokak köpeklerini öldüren Türklerin nasıl cezalandırıldığını anlatılmıştır. Ölü köpeğin burnu yere değecek şekilde kuyruğundan asılır ve köpeğin hiç bir tarafı gözükmeyecek şekilde her tarafının mısır ile örtülmesi öldürenden istenir. Daha sonra bu mısırlar fakir insanlara dağıtılır. Sokak köpeğini öldürene verilen yüksek mali bir cezadır.
In the Beauties Of Bosphorus, published in 1838 by Julia Pardoe, it is explained how the Turks who killed street dogs were punished. The dead dog is suspended from its tail so that its nose touches the ground, and the killer is asked to cover all sides of the dog with corn so that no side of it is visible. Later, these corns are distributed to poor people. It is a high financial penalty for killing a street dog.
