Ünlü lale devri sarayı Sadabat Köşkü'nün bir zamanlar kıyısını süslediği, Haliçi oluşturan iki koldan biri olan, Bizans döneminde Barbisos daha sonra Avrupa'nın tatlı suları ve çevresinde bulunan kâğıt fabrikası nedeniye Kâğıthane Deresi olarak bilinen dere, dönemin en önemli mesire yerlerinden biriydi.
The creek is known as Barbisos during the Byzantine period, then Europe's fresh water and today as Kâğıthane Creek. It is one of the two streams that flow into the Golden Horn. It was one of the most important recreation area in the Tulip Period.
