Homeros'un İlyada Destanı'na göre Akhaların önemli kahramanı Ajax'ın mezarı Rhoetoeum'un (Gelibolu-İntepe) yakınındadır. Klasik dönemde Çanakkale Boğazı Hellespont olarak biliniyordu.
According to Homer's Iliad, the tomb of Ajax, the prominent hero of the Achaeans, is near Rhoetoeum (Gallipoli-Intepe). In the classical period, the Dardanelles Strait was known as Hellespont.
