Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Gravür Dünyası, copyright, high-resolution scans, educational access, and commercial use.
What is Gravür Dünyası?
Gravür Dünyası is Turkey's first and only digital antique print library. It hosts approximately 12,000 engravings and 915 antique maps across 30 categories. The collection covers the 19th century and earlier, with a primary focus on the Ottoman Empire, Turkey, and world history and geography.
How many items are in the collection?
Approximately 11,290 engravings and 463 antique maps — around 12,000 items in total. Each record includes Turkish and English titles, the original artist/engraver, date of publication, source book, technique (steel engraving, copper engraving, etc.), and a detailed scholarly description.
Are these engravings under copyright?
The original 19th-century-and-earlier engravings are themselves in the public domain. However, Gravür Dünyası's high-resolution scans, curatorial selection, scholarly descriptions, and metadata are protected by copyright. The watermarked images shown on the site are for preview purposes.
Can I use these images for commercial purposes?
Commercial use requires a license. For publishing, printing, product design, or marketing uses, please contact us at
