The Hippocrates Plane Tree is located in Çınar Square, where the Gazi Hasan Pasha Mosque is located near the Port of Kos. According to the legend, the Hippocratic Plane Tree is a plane tree that Hippocrates (460-377 BC), the father of medicine, taught his students under its shadow. The tree has a trunk diameter of 14 meters. Although this tree is 500 years old, it is descended from the tree that stood here at the time of Hippocrates 2400 years ago. As can be seen in the engraving, right next to the tree is a fountain built by the Ottoman Governor Gazi Osman Pasha
