Baalbek Ancient City was founded by the Phoenicians in 1100 BC in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. The city, called Heliopolis (Sun City) in Greek language, became the most important city of the region during the reign of Emperor Antonius. The Crusader army turned this city, where Selahattin Eyyübi was born, into a castle in the 14th century. There are 3 important temples known as Jupiter, Venus and Bacchuss in the ancient city
