Description

The Church of the Holy Sepulcher (Resurrection) was built by the Roman emperor Constantine I in 326 AD, where the cross on which the Prophet Jesus was crucified and the nails used for the crucifixion were discovered. Inside the Holy Sepulcher (Resurrection) Church, there is a sarcophagus where the Prophet Jesus is believed to be buried. This sarcophagus is depicted in the engraving. Since the IV century, it has been an important pilgrimage point for Christians, as it is believed to be the place where Jesus will be resurrected. Today, the church serves as the center of the Jerusalem Greek Orthodox Patriarchate and is shared by many other churches. However, in order to prevent quarrels due to conflicts between churches and sects, the church's key has been handed over to a Muslim family since the 12th century.
