Edirne Palace was started to be built in 1450 by Sultan Murad II in the Sarayici district of Edirne and became a large complex with additions and repairs in almost every period. The most important structure of Edirne Palace and depicted in the engraving is the Cihannuma Pavilion. Cihannuma Pavilion was built by Sultan Mehmet II. Only a very small part of Edirne Palace and Cihannuma Pavilion has survived to the present day.
