Located at the point where Büyükçekmece Lake meets the Sea of Marmara, the Suleiman the Magnificent Bridge was built by Mimar Sinan in 1566-1567 upon the order of Suleiman the Magnificent. The stone bridge, which is 636 meters long, 7 meters wide and has 28 arches, consists of 4 sections of different lengths and sizes, joined to each other by 3 artificial islands.
