It was built at the end of the 14th century of the Marble Tower ((Marmara Tower) on the Zeytinburnu coast of Istanbul. It is the starting point on the sea shore of the land walls of Istanbul, which is 5420 meters long and has 123 bastions on it. While other towers on the walls are made of materials such as stone and brick, this tower is made of marble. The symbols of the Paleologos and Kantakuzenos families are on the walls of the four-storey Byzantine Tower.
