The Cannon Gate is located between Mevlana Gate and Sulukule Gate in Istanbul. The gate is also known as Saint Romanos or Porta Romanos gate. The name of the door is taken from the cannons placed to protect the Topkapi Palace. It is the place where Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror established his headquarters during the conquest of Istanbul and carried out cannon attacks by setting up the biggest cannons
