Beyazıt mosque, located in Beyazıt district of Istanbul, was built by Sultan II Beyazıt in 1506. The places where administrative offices were located in the Ottoman Empire were called Kapi (Bab). The word "serasker", which is formed by combining the words "ser" meaning "chief" and "soldier", means "the head of the soldiers, the chief soldier." Therefore, the Seraskar Gate shows the entrance door of the administrative office of the army commander (today's ministry of national defense). It was built by Sultan Mahmut II in 1827.
