Suleymaniye Mosque was built by Mimar Sinan in 1557 on behalf of Kanuni Sutan Suleyman on one of the seven most beautiful hills of Istanbul. The mihrab is the hollow and recessed place in the middle of the wall in the direction of the qibla, where the imam stands in front of the congregation while praying. The pulpit is a building with stairs on which a sermon is read.
