The Thousand Hills Royal Cemetery is the Lydian Tumulus Cemetery site. Thousand Hills, located on the southern edge of Marmara Lake and next to the ancient city of Sardes, is the world's largest tumulus area. The size of the graves in this area, where only the nobility and the leaders of the state are buried, is directly proportional to the importance of the person to whom the tomb belongs. It is thought that the largest tomb in the area belongs to King Alyattes.
