Description

Kervan (Kemer) Bridge is located on Meles (Yesildere) Stream in Tepecik (Yenisehir) district of İzmir. The bridge has a single arch and a length of 12 m.It was built in 850 BC. It is still used today. Kadifekale is located on Pagos hill in Izmir. The castle is the acropolis of Smyrna Ancient City. The castle was built by "Lymachos", one of the generals of Alexander the Great, in the 4th century BC. It was used in the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods. Only 5 towers to the west of the castle and part of its walls to the south remain today. Other parts are in ruins. According to the New Testament in the second part of the Bible, the Prophet Jesus appears to Saint (Apostle) John and gives "messages" to be delivered to the seven churches. Messages sent to these seven churches themselves, and are regarded as the first Christian churches in Turkey are located. M.S. Established by Saint (from Tarsus) Paul during the Roman Empire in 53-56, these churches are named after the Roman period: 1.Ephesus (Ephesos) (Selçuk) 2.İzmir (Smyrna) 3.Bergama (Pergamon) 4.Salihli ( Sardes) 5.Alaşehir (Philadelphia) 6.Denizli (Laodikeia) 7.Akhisar (Thyateira). Saint Policarp's tomb is thought to be in Izmir Kadifekalede (Pagos Mountain).
