Description

Celebi Sultan Mehmet Tomb (Green (Yesil) Tomb) was built by Celebi Sultan Mehmed in 1421 by the architect Hacı Ivaz Pasha, opposite the Green (Yesil) Mosque. There is no other example in that the exterior of the tomb is covered with blue and turquoise colored tiles. It is named as Green (Yesil) Tomb because of the green tiles used inside the tomb. In addition to the sarcophagus belonging to Celebi Sultan Mehmed, there are tiled sarcophaguses belonging to his sons Mustafa, Mahmud and Yusuf and his daughters Selcuk Hatun, Hafsa Sultan, Ayse Hatun and Sitti Hatun, and her nurses Daye Hatun.
