Alanya Castle is located in Alanya district of Antalya. The castle and the city are established on a steep rock at an altitude of approximately 250 meters from the sea and has a sheltered harbor. For this reason, it has been an important port and shipyard center of the pirates' Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman Empires since 2 centuries BC. The length of the fortress walls is 6.5 kilometers. There are 83 towers and 140 bastions in the castle. About 1200 cisterns were built to meet the water requirement of the city, which was located inside the walls in the Middle Ages. Some of the cisterns are still in use. The famous shipyard of Alanya Castle, octagonal planned Kizilkule and inner castle are depicted in engraving.
