Description

During the Ottoman period, the pilgrimage route passed through Antakya. The road of pilgrimage reached Istanbul through a narrow passage between the mountains and the Mediterranean, passing through Damascus, Northern Syria. On the return of Pilgrimage, the people of Antakya would welcome Pilgrim convoy at the Damascus border and host the caravan for a day or two.
