Description

This engraving is based on the paintings of Luigi Mayer (1755-1803). Voyvodas were officials who were assigned to collect taxes in certain places during the Ottoman Empire. Voyvodas also had the duty of ensuring order and security in the place they were located. Later, their duties expanded and they became district governors.
