Description

Temple of Augustus and Rome, located in the Altındağ district of Ankara, right next to the Hacı Bayram Mosque, was built between 27 BC and 14 AD in the name of Roman Emperor Augustus and the city's local goddess Roma after the province of Galatia joined the Roman Empire. The temple was converted into a church by the Byzantines in the early 6th century. In 1427-1428, the Hacı Bayram Mosque was built in connection with the northwest corner of the temple.
