The Temple of Dionysus of Teos is located in the Sığacık Neighborhood of the Seferihisar district of Izmir and is one of the 12 Ionian cities in the ancient port city of Teos. Built in the early 2nd century BC by Hermogenes of Pirene (Söke), the most important architect of the Hellenistic Period, the Temple of Dionysus was dedicated to Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and grapes, and is the largest temple built in Anatolia in the name of Dionysus. It was frequently repaired during the Roman Empire, but was still badly damaged by earthquakes.
