Julia Pardoe visited Istanbul, the capital of the Ottoman Empire, in 1836-1837. She collected his impressions and observations during this time in the books "The City of the Sultan and Domestic Manners of the Turks" (1837, 1838, 1845 and 1854) and "The Beauties of the Bosphorus" (1838, 1839, 1854 and 1874).
