Description

Robert Walker (?-1658) was one of the principal portraitists of the English Commonwealth period. He produced many likenesses of Oliver Cromwell and leading Parliamentary figures. This print’s oval framing, drapery, and finely worked textures signal the transition from Jacobean to mid-17th-century Commonwealth portrait conventions.
