Description

The engraving depicts the interior of the Cathedral of Tortosa (modern Tartus), one of the best-preserved Crusader-era churches in the Levant. The architectural space is defined by massive stone columns, pointed Gothic arches, and a deep central nave that emphasizes the verticality typical of 12th–13th-century Latin ecclesiastical architecture. The cathedral was originally built by the Crusaders and later adapted under Mamluk and Ottoman rule, reflecting the layered cultural history of the region.
