Ponte Mammolo is an ancient bridge located over the Aniene (anciently known as the Anio) River, northeast of Rome, Italy. It takes its name from its location and has a long history dating back to both Roman and medieval times. The bridge was an important part of the ancient road network surrounding Rome, serving as a strategic crossing point, particularly on the route leading to Tivoli (Tibur) via the Via Tiburtina. Thought to have been built in ancient Rome, the bridge has been repaired and rebuilt several times over time. Much of its original structure reflects typical features of Roman engineering: arched stone construction, smooth cut stone blocks, and mortarless crossing techniques. This form of construction was used to resist river floods.
