About the Original The Original Name Of The Engraved Stateu "Hylas Surprised by the Naiades", 1826-1837, Marble, Tate Museum, London, England (Hylas, the servant of Heracles, son of King Theiodamas, was abducted towards the bottom of the water by nymphs while taking water from Lake Askanios (Iznik). The foundations of the city of Klon (Bursa) were laid near here in order to find this handsome young man. Bursa residents would climb to Olympos (Uludağ) on a certain day of the year and shout hylas three times and look for the beautiful young man. The statue depicts this kidnapping event.)
